Baby Birds, Books, and Bunnies

Hello! As I'm used to saying to my Chinese friends, "好久不见!" (hao jiu bu jian = long time no see!)
I've got lots of pictures for updates again! Sorry it's been so long in between posts again... what a slacker eh? Well, hopefully this will make up for it.

First off, last weekend was my cousin Becki's bridal shower, which was great. Lots of good food, fun time with family ~ particularly family that we don't get to see as often down here. Overall, it was a very nice afternoon, and I know we're all looking forward to the wedding now!
Since the day of the shower we have been getting nothing but showers here! It's just been rain, rain, rain. But the trees are opening quickly, and there are lots of signs of Spring to enjoy still. The starlings have made their nests in my window sills again, and sure enough I've been hearing the babies chirping every day whenever the parent bird lands on the sill with its beak full of worms. So I guess the rain has been good for them!

My new geranium on my balcony

Meanwhile, I've been keeping busy with indoor stuff, including reading a new book and continuing on with my cross-stitch.
This is a fantastic book so far. My best friend/cousin2 and I are reading it together and doing sort of a book club. We got together yesterday for our first "book club" and it was great. There's so much to talk about with this book!

Progress of my cross-stitch... it's getting there, slowly but surely!

Bunny!!
The story of bunny ~
On Wednesday I was out with Mulligan for a walk and saw Rita (a gal who works at the building), who told me that Monty (cat who lives in the building) had just been playing with a baby bunny. Her and Dave (a guy who works at the building) got the bunny and put it back in the bush and got Monty back inside. And apparently, when they were putting the bunny back, there was another bunny in there too.
Then, on Thursday I was out again with Mulligan, and the superintendent's dog Zoe saw us, and decided to come play. However, she got sidetracked and ran to the bush where the bunnies were and came bounding out with a bunny in her mouth! Her owner got the bunny right away and I took it on my lap, but then before we knew it Zoe came running up with the other bunny in her mouth, which her owner also got from her. Unfortunately, Zoe was in no way gentle with the bunnies, and the second little guy died in my hands within minutes. (so sad!!!) So I decided there was no way I was going to put the other little one back in the bush for either Zoe or Monty to get. Instead, I took it up to my place, got a little box all set for it, and kept it in my place! The little bunny was SO sweet ~ so tiny, and so cute!

He was in the box in the corner (first pic), and then I took Mulligan out for another walk, and when I got back, I found him all burrowed in the shirt I put in the box for him! How adorable!

I called Maria and asked if she would be willing to take the little guy and let it free in her backyard, which is pretty much a little forest. It would be the perfect spot for him, and the safest too. So before she came, I took some pics of bunny...

Mulligan was pretty jealous...  (don't you love the crooked smile?)

Mulligan did love the bunny though! (he was actually licking it when I took this picture!)

When Maria came I snapped lots more pictures! I just couldn't stop ~ the little thing was just too cute!

Mulligan was surprisingly gentle with it

I love the little white spot on its forehead!

This is my favourite shot ~ I couldn't believe I actually got a picture of them nose-to-nose!

Such a tiny, perfect little bunny. I sure hope he has a wonderful life in his new forest!
加油 little guy!!

And lastly for today, here's a few shots of Willen enjoying one of his favourite TV shows in my room:

Max and Ruby were playing hide and seek...

But Ruby couldn't find Max! Then she saw some hints of where he was...

"Found you!!" *huge grin from Willen*
haha!
Priceless!!
